DESIGNER STATEMENT

Heidi Steckel is a graduate from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Merchandising and Design and a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies. I am looking forward to furthering my experience and knowledge in the apparel industry. I have enjoyed my experience through freelancing as assistant designer roles for Kohl's in Milwaukee, interning with the designer Holli Gibson for LamanBlu, LLC in Denver, Colorado; studying abroad in Florence, Italy; as well as going on a field study trip to Los Angeles, California.



Heidi designs for the love of creativity and helping others express their style. The greatest sense of accomplishment is watching the transformation from a simple ply of fabric to a garment. She gets inspired through various aspects of nature and music, and the free spirit. Heidi has a strong desire to design with sustainability and ethical work in mind, along with an interest in designing children's wear.
